About me
I am Alin Bunea. I was born in Sinaia, Romania a place that used to be beautiful before 20 years of greed and misunderstood democracy spoiled it.
My life until 7 years ago had nothing to do with photography. At that time I considered it a very expensive hobby. Then, in the spring of 2002 I had the chance to get a job as a photographer on a cruise ship. It's a misconception that cruise ships photographers are professional. They are as proffessional as the part-time student flipping burgers at McDonald's is a chef.
But I chose to learn photography and I hardly put the camera down ever since. And the only good thing about cruise ship jobs helped me: travel. I have been in hundreds of places in dozens of countries. The photographic opportunities were limitless.
I don't consider myself a professional photographer. I take good, technically correct pictures that are better than the average. But the experiences I've been through seeking that perfect angle made all my six years on ships worth it. I will try to remember some of them as I go through my photographs.
There's one imposing and majestic symbol of Egypt that captures everybody's imagination: the pyramid. I've seen so many pictures that I couldn't believe I'd be impressed by them. But meeting them face to face you understand why they're called one of the seven wonders of the ancient world: they're simply breathtaking. As the couch leaves the Alexandria road and takes the last turns going into Cairo you can see them: standing high and bold they were the tallest buildings in the world for millennia. And how much more impressive they must have been in their day when the sides were as smooth as glass reflecting the dessert sun.
